The Cleveland Browns Expectations

August 17th 2011 15:39
Since the NFL is now back in business after playing around for months, it's going to be time to look at one franchise that probably is going to suffer a lot and that is the Cleveland Browns. Then again, the suffering that they have had is no different than usual. After all, this team fires coaches at a rapid rate continuing to think that it will work.

With the 2011-12 NFL season happening, all that can be asked is about those that are Cleveland Browns fans. Will they have something to cheer? Make no mistake, they run the city of Cleveland and have it in the palm of their hands since it has been labeled a football town. However, they have been one of the most embarrassing franchises since 1999. It is almost as if their role has been to be the team that is designed to make others look better than they are.

My thoughts are still the same as they are probably going to have a losing season. I expect a last place finish since once again, a new coach and a new system in place. By the next season, unless they change their way of thinking of firing coaches so frequently, it will happen all over again.

Break for now

I thought about writing about the Lockout on here but I decided that I don't have the time to do so. Besides, what else is there to say anyway?

Plans for the future

February 11th 2011 19:01
I'll probably look at the lockout and see if it is going to happen. After that, I'll look at some ideas of what's going to happen with each team and the thought of how a team turns around in one season.

Shocking Teams in the NFL

December 11th 2010 19:23
It has been another season of surprises and seems to be a theme. The most shocking is probably the NFC West considering that nobody is really running away with the division and the fact that a team with a .500 winning percentage could win it. It seems a bit crazy but possible nevertheless.

I wrote an article about the matter at hand. By this point, there still hasn't been all the teams added. Some would have been shocked by Minnesota that they have fallen down but it's debatable because the question was whether Favre had it anymore and it looks like he's done and this scandal with him has been a distraction.

Browns beat Panthers thoughts

November 30th 2010 16:39
As the season winds down for the Browns, it cannot be helped but look at the next two games before finishing off with division rivals. The next ones will be the Dolphins and Bills. The key is going to be who is going to start that game. It's probably going to be Jake "The Mistake" Delhomme. I'm sorry but I'm not high on him being the guy. If Seneca Wallace is healthy, I'd go with that or Colt McCoy for that position.

Yes, they beat the Panthers but it should have never come down to that. They missed a field goal, which enabled the Browns to win. It should have been easier than what it was. Instead, it was simply pathetic in the 2nd half. I'm not sure what goes on but this prevent and playing not to lose needs to be thrown out of the playbook.

Credit where credit is due (Browns)

October 28th 2010 02:35
Yes, they did not win the first two games but the only thing that has to be considered shocking is that they are not getting blown out. The Browns are trying or attempting to remove the punching bag label that had been bestowed upon them. I am guilty of that label because of questions about why they were brought back.

They defeated the Saints and will be playing the Patriots and Jets. I do not expect them to win either one but it is possible. You can never completely rule anything out. Beating the Saints has to be considered an upset by most people. For the last three seasons, they have defeated defending Super Bowl champions.

About the Browns

August 31st 2010 00:14
The pre-season means nothing whether it is about winning or losing. Granted, they have played better on the offense but the defense is making too many errors. They are going to be competitive but not to the point of being a threat to the AFC North title.

They must win the first two games of the regular season. If they do not, which is very possible, it could mean more of a disaster and possibly having another embarrassing season. Cleveland has been used to it and has seen it time and time again.

Browns draft thoughts

May 4th 2010 16:54
As far as the grade to determine how they did this draft, it's hard to say. You can't really judge it until the players get out there and play. It would be wise to have Haden start along with Ward. Even give Hardesty a chance to play as well to build up the running game. It is unlikely that Colt McCoy will get to be the starting Quarterback for the Browns due to the fact that Delhomme was brought in to start.

You can't say for one minute that it can't happen in that respect. Seneca Wallace is one that really hasn't played a lot and has been mainly a backup for the Seattle Seahawks. Do not expect him to start unless A) Delhomme is injured or B) just plain sucks.

I'm taking a break right now from it as there really isn't much NFL activity in regards to games. Perhaps after the draft, I could have a better perspective on it. If anyone would want to apply, then by all means do so. It'd help keep it active.

After the entire season, there are some final thoughts overall when it comes to the season and the post-season. Without question, there have been some upsets but it's time for some team awards. This will be my last blog post for a few months. I'll wait for the next season.

Upset of the Year: Cleveland Browns defeating the Pittsburgh Steelers. Who would have imagined that one happening?

And then there were four....

February 1st 2010 18:14
This has to be a look at now four teams in general that have never been to the Super Bowl. The question is going to be who will be next on the list. It seems like it is possible but as far as winning it goes, that's another story. It comes down to who is going to be willing to put it together to finally get there and then see if they can finally pull it off. For what it is worth, 3 AFC teams have yet to make it and 1 NFC so it could be possible to have a first time match up with two first time teams.

Cleveland Browns-If you consider it one entity, they've never done it and have eight league titles and this was before the Super Bowl. They've had misery and could be said that they have been destined to be a failure franchise. The last four games may have shown some possible improvement but it will take more than that. They need to come out of the gate a lot stronger and more dangerous than ever

There are just a few things that must be looked upon and assessed when deciding whether or not, it would be a good idea for Holmgren. Here are the thoughts in general.

1. He should only be brought in as the football head in command. Giving him the extra roles such as a GM and/or a coach would do more harm than good. Conventional wisdom says that trying to do more than one job will cause more harm to a team than it will be a success. In short, it would be best not to give him all positions. Just for the head of football operations spot would be just fine

Shocking AFC North standings

December 1st 2009 21:05
Who would have guessed that the Bengals would be on top of the division? Going into the season, you figured it would be the Steelers 1st, maybe the Ravens 2nd, Bengals 3rd, and the Browns continue to be the punching bag of the NFL in dead last. This year, however, is really one of the most shocking in that respect.

The Bengals are now in the driver's seat having gone a perfect 6-0 in the division and have now the shot of taking it. They are a story and would be one that would be interesting to say the least. I do not expect them to be a Super Bowl team but who knows for sure. They are a very good team this season but next year expect them to have a tougher schedule

Mangini is likely to be fired

November 18th 2009 14:20
I do believe that the Browns may not win another game and there is no respect given to Mangini by the players. Of course, they didn't give Romeo any respect so he was let go as well. This season can be described as anything that could wrong has done so and more. It is so bad, I have to wonder if they could beat the worst team in the UFL being the New York Sentinels. This season has just been horrible and just nothing more than being a punching bag.

If there is any sense of pride within the players, they would put forth more of an effort on the offense. Brady Quinn may not be the answer but is this team really going to be a fair assessment of what he can do? Yes, he could do better and so could Derek Anderson. It may be likely both of them are gone. Without a good line protecting the Quarterback, there isn't much that can be done to fix this mess

Braylon Edwards gone

October 8th 2009 18:09
The Browns no longer have Braylon Edwards on the team. My thoughts are that it wasn't shocking that it happened other than it taking this long for it to happen. It pretty much felt like he was going to be gone no matter what. It's not something that would be a bad loss for Cleveland. He kept dropping the ball and really had some off the field issues.

To make it short, it was expected.

The Browns and Donte Stallworth

July 26th 2009 22:11
As it is known, he has been released from prison. Stallworth probably should no longer be on the Cleveland Browns roster because of the potential distraction that he brings to the table and quite honestly, it is something that they cannot afford. If it hadn't happened, then perhaps who knows what happens.

The only solution that could work for him would be to give him a buyout so that he can be free of the team. Of course, there is the trade option but who knows if anyone will trade for him. Then again, there could be a "sucker" team that would take anyone. Oakland has been known to do that and so has Cincinnati since they had a reputation of having jail birds
