What I know is he will be starting in the game against the Lions in the pre-season but he could become a solid back up plan should Anderson go down with either injury or poor performance. After all, I do believe with sincerity that the Browns want to do well this year and not go through more failure.
We do not know much on Quinn in the regular season nor as a pro at all. College and pro are two separate entities and it's not easy to make the transition. Some players are able to do that and others were a bust. I think that him being the back-up may be a good thing for him as you do not want to rush development too fast otherwise it could turn out to be a disaster. The Browns went through this with Tim Couch though that was probably a situation where they had no other choice but still. At least by then, you would know what the man is capable of instead of just buying into the hype.
I don't know why there's so much hate for Derek Anderson. It just doesn't make sense to me personally. I guess it's more about people loving Brady Quinn or something. I'd rather just be happy with winning games period. That's the main objective and it doesn't really matter.
What do I think of Quinn? He could become a solid player and probably will get some more playing time in the regular season to see if there is any chemistry between him and the offense. Other than Anderson, who else has been good for them in that aspect? None because of either not getting along or just no chemistry, though there is a chance it could be a little bit of both.
I do not think he is a bad player nor will he be a mistake. All I can say is there is no room for error and Quinn better take all the snaps he can during the pre-season. He could be needed just in case of emergency. Would it be wrong to have two strong Quarterbacks giving them a chance to win? I don't think so personally but hey who knows.
I hope he does well with this opportunity to get better as a player. It's going to be needed when necessary.
