ChatNFL 2014 Mock Draft

ChatNFL 2014 Mock Draft

– Houston – Jadeveon Clowney – DE – South Carolina - has too much on paper to pass up here at a need position and no one will trade up into this spot – they should but won’t take the risk on Johnny Manziel

– St. Louis – Jake Matthews – OT – Texas A&M - can’t pass up instant starter to help their offense produce more

– Jacksonville – Sammy Watkins – WR – Clemson - they have tons of picks to trade up and grab Clowney, but will stand pat and take Watkins to fill a big need after mistake WR Justin Blackmon

– Cleveland – Johnny Manziel – QB – Texas A&M – as much as I like local guy Brian Hoyer, they just can’t pass up on the possibilities that come with Johnny Football

– Oakland – Greg Robinson – OT – Auburn – biggest need is on the OL on a team with lots of needs

– Atlanta – Khalil Mack – LB – Buffalo - they get their pass rusher and an upgrade for run stopping linebackers all in one, a no-brainer pick

– Tampa Bay - Mike Evans – WR – Texas A&M - basically a Vincent Jackson clone for the other side of the field

– Minnesota – Blake Bortles – QB – Central Florida - should pick C.J. Mosley but will go with the NFL trend of constantly trying to hit on the next great thrower

– Buffalo – Taylor Lewan – OT – Michigan - pending legal issues aside, a risk worth absorbing if it means help for all that skill position talent they have

– Detroit – Justin Gilbert – CB – Oklahoma State - can’t pass up the best corner in the draft, very safe pick

– Tennessee – Darqueze Dennard – CB – Michigan State - now that the CBs are opened up, they take the next best available on to replace Alterraun Verner

– New York Giants – Aaron Donald – DT - Pittsburgh – fills a big need to shore up the middle of the defense, can also boost pass rush

– St. Louis – Calvin Pryor – FS – Louisville - can add wrinkles into a vanilla defense with his blitzing and fill a big whole with downfield coverage

– Chicago – C. J. Mosley – LB – Alabama - could play all LB positions and will help the league’s worst (by far) run defense immediately – huge value pick

– Pittsburgh – Bradley Roby – CB – Ohio State - they luck into Roby and gain some much needed fresh hard-nosed talent on the outside

– Dallas – Anthony Barr – OLB – UCLA - they don’t have enough fuel to move to the top and get Clowney, so they will take the best pass rusher available

– Baltimore – Jimmie Ward – SS – Northern Illinois - gets a versatile playmaker to help with depth and contribute immediately in nickel and dime packages

– New York Jets – Xavier Su’A-Filo – OG – UCLA – not sure if they’ll make this smart pick over a flashy one, if they want to improve, they’ll fill this glaring weakness with the best guard in the draft

– Miami – Cyrus Kouandijo – OT – Alabama - needs tons of help on the offensive line and will take the next best tackle to start on the right side

– Arizona – Teddy Bridgewater – QB – Louisville - will need to groom someone for the future and Bridgewater could eventually have big upside at this pick

– Green Bay – Ha’Sean Clinton-Dix – FS – Alabama – they’ll be tempted to grab TE Eric Ebron, but Clinton-Dix falls into their lap with tremendous value and they can’t pass him up

– Philadelphia – Brandin Cooks – WR – Oregon State – would be a big value pick if teams don’t panic on a run of WRs; he’d be perfect in this offense

– Kansas City – Odell Beckhamm Jr. – WR – LSU – just missed on Cooks, they take the next best available WR if they can avoid the temptation (and curse) of taking a USC top receiver, Marquise Lee

– Cincinnati – Timmy Jernigan – DT – Florida State – needs another penetrating force in the heart of the defense and Jernigan fits the bill perfectly

– San Diego – Kyle Fuller – CB – Virginia Tech – comes from an NFL family and will contribute right away to a huge need area in the Chargers’ defense

– Carolina – FROM Cleveland – Marquise Lee – WR – USC – leapfrogs division rival Saints to steal their target and shore up a severely depleted position

– New Orleans – Ryan Shazier – OLB – Ohio State – without a good WR left for this high of pick they get a great consolation prize and a rookie starter

– Cleveland – FROM Carolina – Ka’Deem Carey – RB – Arizona – they need some insurance against free agent pickup and presumed starter RB Ben Tate and just might have a tough decision to make by the time camp is over

– New England – Ra’Shede Hageman – DT – Minnesota – they get the guy they wanted all along and unusually stay in their original draft slot to get him

– San Francisco – Eric Ebron – TE – North Carolina - Jim Harbaugh will see this name still available and will pull the trigger with ease

– Denver – Jason Verrett – CB – TCU – best available at a need position has speed, great change of direction and great instincts

– Seattle – Jordan Matthews – WR – Vanderbilt – Jerry Rice’s cousin has a big catch radius and the Seahawks need some insurance against the oft-injured Percy Harvin and Sidney Rice
