NFL Week 10 Preview – Division Matchups

NFL Week 10 Preview – Division Matchups

The following is a preview of games played between teams from the same division

Buffalo Bills (3-5) at New England Patriots (5-3)

The NFL’s top offense goes against the second worst defense. That does not bode well for the Bills. The most they can try for is to find some of that offensive magic they exhibited last year when they shocked New England in Buffalo. Since then they have been throttled by the Pats in two games since then and will need a mistake-free performance to have a chance this weekend.

Detroit Lions (4-4) at Minnesota Vikings (5-4)

The key for the Vikings will be running the ball with league-leading running back Adrian Peterson (106.3 yards per game). That will keep Matthew Stafford, Calvin Johnson and the rest of the offensive weapons on the sidelines. It also wouldn’t hurt for the Vikings to improve upon their 30th ranked passing attack to be able to keep up if the Lions get rolling with big plays.

Atlanta Falcons (8-0) at New Orleans Saints (3-5)

There’s pressure and opportunity for the Saints to give the Falcons their first loss of the season. If they fail, it’ll mean a very tough climb back into contention will become a nearly impossible mission to succeed with 6 losses before week 11. With San Francisco, the Giants and another Atlanta matchup looming on their schedule, the Saints need to push the pedal to the floor now to save their season.

St. Louis Rams (3-5) at San Francisco 49ers (6-2)

The Niners enjoy a 86 point differential while the Rams suffer from -49 in that category. The Rams are inferior across the board and only have a chance in this game if San Francisco beats themselves. The Niners creative and physical offense pairs with a swarming and powerful defense to present the most balanced team in the NFC.

Dallas Cowboys (3-5) at Philadelphia Eagles (3-5)

This may be the most hard-fought and entertaining matchups of the entire weekend full of great pairings. These division rivals have suffered many mistakes this year with the weight of high expectations compelling their respective quarterbacks to try to do too much on offense instead of being patient and taking what the defenses give them. It’ll come down to who makes the least number of mistakes in a virtual must-win game for both sides.
