NFL Week 14 Recap – AFC v NFC

The following is a recap of games played between AFC and NFC teams

Washington Redskins 31, Baltimore Ravens 28

Although RGIII left the game with an unfortunate knee injury, his backup and fellow rookie Kirk Cousins didn’t miss a beat and tossed a 15 yard completion followed by a 11 yard touchdown strike to Pierre Garcon to force overtime. The Ravens received the kickoff but were unable to put anything on the board. Yet another great contribution from a rookie came in the form of a 64 yard punt return by Richard Crawford which enabled a game winning field goal by Kai Forbath.

Dallas Cowboys 20, Cincinnati Bengals 19

Dallas has to be very grateful that Demarco Murray returned from injury just in time to help salvage their season and keep their playoff hopes alive. He keyed the final drive on the ground and receiving a couple Tony Romo passes to enable Dan Bailey to kick the 40 yard game winner. The Bengals aren’t out of it yet since the Steelers have lost their pace, but the Bengals will have to perform better to keep their postseason dreams afloat.

St. Louis Rams 15, Buffalo Bills 12

Although the Bills finally got a great performance from Ryan Fitzpatrick (247 yards, 75.8% completion rate and a TD), they still were not able to get the job done on the scoreboard. The Rams held Fred Jackson to 14 yards on 9 carries and although C.J. Spiller fared better with 37 yards on 6 carries the balance on offense just wasn’t there for Buffalo. The Rams’ WR Brandon Gibson turned in a key performance with 6 catches for 100 yards that included a 13 yard TD in the final minute that completed the comeback and gave the surging Rams their third win in a row.

San Francisco 49ers 27, Miami Dolphins 13

The game started slowly in the first half with only field goals. Then the Niners running game took over and keyed the victory at home. Cameron Wake had 3 sacks but no other Dolphin distinguished themselves enough to get more points on the board. San Francisco has two tough games coming up as they travel to New England then Seattle which will be a huge test as they eye the playoffs.
