NFL Week 15 Preview – NFC v NFC
The following is a preview of games played between NFC teams
Minnesota Vikings (7-6) at St. Louis Rams (6-6-1)
The Rams’ defense has been playing much better this season, but they may still have trouble with Adrian Peterson as he rumbles towards Eric Dickerson’s single season rushing record. With his momentum, it doesn’t even matter in the pass attack gets going again. Peterson has averaged an incredible 6 yards a carry after a major knee injury that he rehabbed very quickly from. If the Rams fall and their playoff chances are further doused, they can at least take comfort that they were beaten by the best.
New York Giants (8-5) at Atlanta Falcons (11-2)
This game could have two 300 yard passers as both teams jockey for playoff position. Defenses tend to wear down towards the end of the year so offenses more and more have the upper hand. The Falcons have clinched their division but want to secure a first round bye and home field advantage. New York has more pressure on them in their division race to hold back the surging Redskins and Cowboys.
Detroit Lions (4-9) at Arizona Cardinals (4-9)
The Cardinals overachieved when they reeled off 4 straight wins to open the 2012 season. Now that they have lost a devastating 9 straight, it’s easy to see they have more problems than just at quarterback. Their offensive line and receivers around Larry Fitzgerald need to improve to be competitive. The Lions have underachieved severely after a playoff game was earned last year. They will need to make gains in the leadership and focus categories to be able to perform to their talent level next year.
