NFL Week 15 Recap – NFC v NFC
The following is a recap of games played between NFC teams
Minnesota Vikings 36, St. Louis Rams 22
Adrian Peterson is having a season for the ages. He has 1812 yards and can reach the record 2105 by averaging 147 yards over his last two games. Aside from whether they make the playoffs or not, the whole team will want to achieve that for him and for themselves to be part of history. The Rams have made many great strides this season and may even contend for the division next year, but for now, they will be a team in the middle.
Atlanta Falcons 34, New York Giants 0
It is amazing how quickly the NFL landscape can change after one game. There were those heavily favoring the Giants coming into this one and I would say the Falcons heard about that. Their statement game gives instant clout and should quiet anyone that doubted them as a top NFC and NFL team. Matt Ryan had an amazing game with 3 TDs, 82.1% completion rate and a 142.6 rating. Even more telling was the fact that he only was sacked once by the feared Giants defensive front. The Falcons held the ball for 17 more minutes than the Giants in a game New York just didn’t show up for.
Arizona Cardinals 38, Detroit Lions 10
The Cardinals’ 9 game losing streak was finally broken in grand fashion in front of the home crowd. Matthew Stafford’s poor play (48% completion rate, 3 INTs) spurred the solid defense and provided easy opportunities for the offense to finally pick up some slack. Beanie Wells had 3 rushing touchdowns in a cathartic win for Arizona. The Cardinals D also helped the offense out by returning 2 of those INTs for touchdowns.
