To Retire or Not to Retire
August 26th 2008 19:54
Not very fancy but nevertheless, it seems to be a theme this year. We all ready have Brett Favre, whom in my humble opinion never really retired and the latest is Strahan possibly coming out of retirement as well. What is up with this theme of saying you'll retire but not really meaning it? Brett Favre is guilty of this 100% and when he got traded, then that was the end of it in Green Bay. Strahan isn't given a very heavy chance of returning because based upon the latest messages on ESPNEWS, he is content with retirement and has some nagging injuries that he may want to have heal up. I personally believe that if you're going to announce retirement, do everyone a favor and mean it. If you have no intentions of doing so, then don't say it in the first place, otherwise you look bad in the end.
I hope that this coverage doesn't get insane like Favre's got. In fact, here's a reference on this whole ordeal being brought up sometime back. Keep in mind however that this was done prior to the move with the Jets.
Thoughts on the Brett Favre Saga
I hope that there isn't another story like this again. It was sickening the first time around, why would it be any different? Well, that's just my opinion and I feel that if you're going to retire, then mean it and don't come back the following season. I guarantee that if both are playing and both decide to retire, most likely they wouldn't be believed.
